Battery Maintenance

To ensure your batteries work correctly and have a long lifespan, regular maintenance is required.

1. Checking the water level: The water level in a lead-acid battery should be regularly checked (~ every month) to ensure the lead plates are being fully submerged. If the level is low, distilled water should be added.
2. Cleaning the terminals: Over time, the terminals of lead-acid batteries can become corroded, which can affect their performance. Regular cleaning of the terminals can help prevent this.
3. Monitoring the voltage: The voltage of lead-acid batteries should be monitored regularly to ensure that it is within the recommended range. If the voltage is too low, this can indicate that the battery is not charging properly.
4. Replacing the battery: Lead-acid batteries have a limited lifespan and will eventually need to be replaced. The battery should be replaced if it is no longer holding a charge or if it is significantly degraded.
